“Westchester County is home to so many terrific students and teachers whose accomplishments extend beyond the classroom to make a lasting impact on our community,” said Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. “The Milly Kibrick Awards honor kids who lead by showing us all how to be of service to our neighbors in ways that benefit the entire community, while the WISE Awards recognize those educators with a unique ability to inspire their students toward success in life. We look forward to announcing this year’s winners.”
The Westchester County Youth Board will review nominations, which are due no later than May 10. Applications can be obtained at westchestergov.com/youth.
Nominees for the Milly Kibrick Award must be current high school juniors, graduating with the class of 2018, who are residents of Westchester County. These students should exhibit a commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies and a positive identity.
Westchester Innovative School Educators (WISE) Award nominees must be certified professionals working in K-12 educational settings or alternative academic pathways who have developed innovative solutions to educational challenges facing our youth.
The winners will be honored at the Youth Service Awards Dinner in October.
