Westchester Broadway Theatre Presents 'South Pacific'

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Westchester Broadway Theatre will present a new play "South Pacific" from Thursday, Sept. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 30, and Wednesday, Dec. 31 through Sunday, Jan. 25.

Show times are as follows: 

  • Wednesday matinees: Lunch: 11:30 a.m. and show 1 p.m. 
  • Thursday matinees: Lunch: 11:30 a.m. and show 1 p.m.    
  • Thursday, Friday, and Saturday Evenings: Dinner: 6:30 p.m. and show: 8 p.m.
  • Sunday matinees: Lunch: noon and show: 1:30 p.m.
  • Sunday evenings: Dinner: 5:30 p.m. and show: 7 p.m.

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s award-winning "South Pacific: is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book "Tales of the South Pacific" by James A. Michener.

The musical is set on an island paradise during World War II and tells two parallel love stories against the dangers of prejudice and war and the importance of valuing diversity. 

The original play won 10 Tony Awards in 1949 and set the stage for a highly successful movie version in 1958 starring Rossano Brazzi, and Mitzi Gaynor.  It won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1950. 

The score contains many of the most recognizable songs in Broadway history, including “Some Enchanted Evening,” “Younger Than Springtime,” “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Out-a My Hair,” “I’m In Love With a Wonderful Guy” and “There Is Nothing Like a Dame.”    

Ticket prices dinner and show range between $54 and $80 plus tax depending on the performances chosen. Beverage service and gratuities are not included in the ticket price.
