PARIS, France -- A series of coordinated terror attacks resulted in the deaths of 127 in Paris on Friday.

Shootings took place at as many as six different locations, including a nearby theater. An American band was performing at the theater and some of those attending the concert are believed to be Americans. Members of the California-based band, Eagles of Death Metal, reportedly escaped offstage as the attacks began. Most members of the crowd were reported to be between ages 20 and 30.

The Stade de France was put in lockdown after an explosion outside the stadium sounded during an apparent suicide bomb attack, the first to ever occur in France.

President Francois Hollande was whisked away after being inside the stadium attending the soccer match between France and Germany.

The 127 fatalities make it the worst terrorist attack in a Western nation since 9/11 and worst act of violence in France since World War II.

Hollande, in a brief live address just before midnight Paris time, declared a state of emergency and announced France's borders have been closed.

All of the attackers, at least five, are believed to have been killed.
