White Plains police increased security at all malls, houses of worship, schools, community centers, government buildings, hotels, public events and transportation points following the bombing at the Boston Marathon last Monday.

Westchester County police stopped two men driving on the Hutchinson River Parkway Wednesday near White Plains and found $40,000-worth of oxycodone pills in a hidden compartment under the car floorboard, police said. They seized the 1,465 pills and both arrested both men, who were arraigned on criminal possession of a controlled substance in White Plains Thursday.
