WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - The Daily White Plains would like to thank everyone who came to town reporter Sarina Trangle's office hours Friday. This week, Councilman David Buchwald stopped by and explained legislation he's proposed to strengthen the city's code of ethics. Buchwald aims to add a clause preventing city employees from making hiring or promotion decisions that involve their relatives and a clause guaranteeing that a neutral, disinterested person be available for city employees wishing to report workplace theft. Although the city has policies regarding workplace theft and monitoring related employees, Buchwald said strengthening and protecting these rules in the code of ethics was initially suggested by the New York State Comptroller's Office.
The Common Council will discuss the proposed code of ethics amendments on Monday and schedule a related public hearing for early September.
If coming to Panera Bread between 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday wasn't convenient, let us know in the comments section or on Facebook and Twitter . We will do our best to arrange for office hours that fit your schedules.
