Suspect's Half-Brother Is Third Man Charged In Mount Kisco Homicide

Mario Coronado-Depaz was arrested in the village at 6 p.m. He was booked at the county police precinct in Mount Kisco and is expected to be arraigned later Friday night in Mount Kisco Justice Court, said Kieran O'Leary, public information officer for Westchester County Police.

Coronado-Depaz, 39, Milton Ventura, 35, and Freddy Coronado-Mendez, 34, all of Mount Kisco, are accused of causing the death of Jose Sanchez, 53, during an altercation in a wooded area off Lieto Drive on Saturday. Sanchez’ body was discovered the following day by a relative who alerted police.

Coronado-Depaz is the half-brother of Coronado-Mendez.

An autopsy conducted by the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office determined that Sanchez died of injuries caused by blunt force trauma. Sanchez, a native of Honduras, worked as a landscaper and had no permanent address. 

The first suspect who was charged, Coronado-Mendez, left the area by train and was tracked by Westchester County detectives to Harrison, N.J., where he was taken into custody on Monday.  He is being held at the Hudson County Jail and is expected to appear before a judge on Monday for arraignment.

It is believed he was attempting to arrange to leave this region of the country, police said. Proceedings will be held to extradite him back to New York.

Ventura was arrested Tuesday night and is being held without bail at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla.

“I commend all the detectives involved in this investigation for their tenacity and skill in unraveling the events that led to Mr. Sanchez’s death,” Longworth said. “We also continue to get excellent cooperation from the community in this case.”
