Storm Knocks Out Power For 800 In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Severe winds and heavy rain left more than 800 Con Edison customers in White Plains without electrical power as of 10:30 a.m., Thursday, according to the Con Edison website.

A wind advisory from the National Weather Service is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday with winds around 24 miles per hour and gusts as high as 48 miles per hour.

A total of 2,500 Con Edison customers throughout Westchester County are without power Thursday morning.

The anticipated restoration time is 6 p.m., according to the Con Edison website.

Thursday night will be partly cloudy with winds between 16 and 20 miles per hour and gusts reaching as high as 46 miles per hour. The low is expected to be around 26 degrees. 

Friday there is a slight chance of snow showers after 1 p.m., but it will be partly sunny with a high near 33 degrees. Winds will begin to die down into the night with gusts around 29 miles per hour and a low near 20 degrees. 

Saturday will be partly sunny with a high near 32 degrees and a chance of snow mainly after 1 a.m. The low is expected to be near 23 degrees. Snow could continue Sunday until around 1 p.m. There is, however, still a chance of rain and snow the rest of the afternoon. Sunday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 22 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
