White Plains was added to the list of 10 cities and two towns where the program is offered when it was renewed in the 2013-2014 state budget, which was officially adopted late Thursday night.
The program was enacted Dec. 9, 2011 and offers employers up to a $4,000 tax credit per employee if those workers remain employed for one year.
“This program is great news for our families and young adults residing in the city of White Plains,” Assembly member David Buchwald (D) said. “With this new opportunity, we can provide more businesses with the chance to foster growth and help more teens and young adults find jobs locally.”
Eligible youth must live within the limits of one of the following municipalities:
- Mount Vernon
- New Rochelle
- Yonkers
- Albany
- Buffalo
- New York
- Rochester
- Schenectady
- Syracuse
- Utica
- Brookhaven
- Hempstead
The program was extended through 2017.
