Star-Studded Show Will Precede Pope's MSG Mass In NYC Today

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Pope Francis’ 6:30 Mass at Madison Square Garden will be preceded by a line-up of entertainment featuring devotional music and prayer starting today at 3 p.m.

Tickets already have been distributed through New York parishes.

According to the pope’s website, “A Journey in Faith” is headlined by comedian Jim Gaffigan and hosted by Mark Wahlberg. Aretha Franklin will perform with the alternative band The Fray and other guests include Jackie Evancho, Matt Maher, Marie Miller, Andrea Bocelli, Juanes and The Philadelphia Orchestra.

Other stars at the event include Harry Connick Jr., Gloria Estefan, Jennifer Hudson, Kelli O’Hara, Martin Sheen, James (D Train) Williams and Norm Lewis. The Broadway Inspirational Voicesand the St. Charles Borromeo Choir also will sing. The event also will include the recitation of the rosary and the sacrament of reconciliation.
