The new Saks store, which opened Wednesday afternoon, is off Route 119 in the White Plains Shopping Center. That also can be confusing to non-town residents since the new store's location at 29 Tarrytown Road actually is in the Town of Greenburgh, near the Westchester County Center.

It's the 79th Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th store to open nationwide, and the first in Westchester County. Jonathan Greller, president of Outlets for Hudson's Bay Company which owns Saks, said they are proud to be the destination of nearly 1,000 brands while offering up to 70 percent discounts.

“Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH offers an impressive selection of true fashion at great prices,'' Greller said. "This celebration weekend will kick off a long relationship with the style-savvy shoppers in Westchester."

The store opening is happy news for Greenburgh Town Supervisor Paul Feiner, who presided over Wednesday's ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"You offer fantastic deals and your service is legendary,'' Feiner said. He thanked Greller and Saks "for making Greenburgh a destination point for people from all over the region."

Feiner joked that his wife was disappointed she could not leave work early to shop, but he was joined by his mother and sister, who live in Scarsdale.

During the ceremony, Greller presented $2,500 corporate donations to Blythedale Children's Hospital and Westchester County Medical Center.

On Thursday, shoppers who arrive an hour before the store's 9:30 a.m. opening will get a chance to win a $100 gift card every 10 minutes. One lucky winner will receive a $500 shopping spree. The first 200 guests Thursday through Sunday will receive a chocolate bar and a chance at winning a $100 gift card.
