Red Flag Warning Is In Effect For Wildfires In White Plains

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Red Flag Warning will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday for conditions favorable for the rapid spread of wildfires for all of Westchester County, according to the National Weather Service.

The warning also includes New York City, Long Island, Northeast New Jersey and Southern Connecticut.

Winds of between 25 to 35 miles per hour and gusts of up to 45 miles per hour and a relative humidity as low as 25 percent will result in rapid fire spread if ignition occurs.

The forecast for Sunday is for temperatures reaching a high of only 35 degrees in Westchester with sunny skies. The wind-chill will make it feel like the upper teens.
