'Raise The Age' Is Topic Of Town Hall Meeting In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The Westchester Children’s Association will hold a Town Hall meeting on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the White Plains Public Library to discuss raising the age of criminal responsibility in New York State

New York is the only state other than North Carolina where all children 16 and older are treated as adults in the criminal justice system. WCA is hosting the Town Hall event to raise public awareness and discuss the growing movement to raise the age of criminal responsibility in New York State.

Guest speakers at the event will include, Cora Greenberg, executive director of WCA and Allison Lake, deputy director of WCA; State Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson (D- Mount Vernon); State Sen. Andrea Stewart Cousins (D- Scarsdale, Rivertowns, Tarrytown); Dr. Traci Gardner, pediatrician at Children’s Village and more.

There is no fee to attend the meeting, however registration is required.
