Police: Worker Charged With Theft Reveals 20K Plot To Defraud Store

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – A cashier at True Religion in The Westchester Mall was arrested and charged with stealing, then trying to use two $500 gift cards, according to a police report.

Isiah Lyman, 20, was charged with petit larceny, a misdemeanor.

Store security told police the incident was part of a large scheme orchestrated by former store manager Shayla Baylock, 22, who intended to defraud True Religion out of approximately $20,000, the report says. The store had been investigating the alleged scheme, which involved Lyman stealing two gift cards Aug. 30, the report says. The store reported the incident Sept. 7.

Statements given by Lyman and store management indicated that Baylock’s alleged scheme began a month ago.

White Plains police have opened an investigation into the matter. Lyman was booked and held for court.
