Police: White Plains Worker's Purse Stolen

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - An employee at Sofrito in White Plains reported that someone stole her handbag, which contained items worth $755, while she was at work Sunday night, according to a police report.

The Yonkers resident, 20, told police that about 10 p.m., she left her bag on a chair next to the bar counter at the 175 Main St. restaurant, and when she returned five minutes later, it was gone. She said the bag, worth $30; contained her iPhone, worth $700; New York State ID; and a wallet, worth $25.

The report said the restaurant's surveillance video revealed that a Hispanic male with a medium build, between the ages of 20 and 30, grabbed the bag while walking out of Sofrito at about 10:05 p.m. The man was wearing a striped shirt and shorts.

Police said they checked the immediate area but didn't find the suspect. The victim told police she would try to trace her phone and would contact police if she was successful.
