WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A Yonkers woman, 33, was arrested April 29 and charged with fourth-degree grand larceny for stealing more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from a designer jewelry store in The Westchester Mall, according to a police report.
A guard at the store told police he saw Shazia Kiany take six items -- one Stephen Dweck necklace, worth $395, one pair of Devon Leigh earrings, worth $325, one Love Heals necklace, worth $295, one pair of Barrera earrings, worth $275, and two yellow metal jewel-studded brooches.
The guard told police the suspect then hid the items in her blouse and tried to leave the store without paying. Guards stopped her and recovered most of the items, police said. After police arrested her and took her to headquarters, a search revealed she still had the jewel-studded brooches hidden in her bra, police said. .
Two more Yonkers woman were arrested and charged with petit larceny for stealing $134 in women's clothes April 24 from Sears in the Galleria, police said. The two are 16- and 17-year-old sisters.
A guard at the department store told police he saw the older sister take a $10 dress and hide it in her purse while the younger sister took two shirts, one skirt and one pair of shorts, worth a total of $124, and hide it in her bag, police said. They were released on $500 bail and are due back in city court April 29.
