Police Searched GWB Waters After Man Found In Hastings Was Reported Missing

Westchester County police have not released the man’s identity.

According to Kieran O’Leary, public information officer for the Westchester County Police, the man’s family reported him missing on Monday and the man's wallet and other personal items were found on the walkway of the George Washington Bridge that same day.

“In addition, there were no calls to police reporting that anyone had jumped or was seen in the water,” said O’Leary. “So we do not know whether he entered the river at that time, but that is something that remains under investigation.”

Though there are no signs of foul play, the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office will be performing an autopsy.
