WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. A night out in White Plains ended in handcuffs for a pair of Purchase men who were accused of starting fights with bouncers and patrons at Black Bear Saloon, as well as police, according to a police report.
Anthony Zang, 18, and Dennis Xie, 21, were charged with disorderly conduct, a violation. Xie was also charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
Police on foot patrol in downtown White Plains early Saturday saw a large fight in front of Black Bear around 2:18 a.m., the report says. Police broke up the altercation between the two suspects and the bars bouncers and some patrons, then asked Xie and Zang to leave the area multiple times. Both refused and tried to re-enter the bar, and Zang used profanities toward the officers, the report says.
An officer tried to restrain Zang, but he pushed the officers hand away and continued walking toward the bar, the report says. Both suspects then took a fighting stance, leading one officer to grab Xie and another to grab Zang and take them to the ground, the report says. While Zang was placed under arrest, Xie resisted, tucking his hands between his chest and the ground. The report says he tensed up to prevent the officer from handcuffing him.
After a brief struggle, the officer handcuffed Xie, and both suspects were taken to headquarters.
A search turned up a clear tub from Xies front left pocket, containing a cigarette with what police believe to be marijuana.
Both suspects suffered minor injuries from the fight with other patrons. They were held for court.
