Police: Drunken White Plains Man Taken to Hospital

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. --A drunk 46-year-old man was taken to the hospital Thursday after fighting with staff at P.F. Chang's and refusing to pay his tab, police said.

Police said they were called to the restaurant to help with the customer, who was belligerent and shouting obscenities at staff when they arrived at approximately 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The manager told police he didn't want to pursue legal action over the man's unpaid $136 bill and just wanted him removed from the Westchester Mall restaurant.

Police said ambulance staff, who were at the scene, attempted to gauge how intoxicated the man was. However, officers said the man threatened the paramedics.

The man was brought to police headquarters, where he was arrested and charged with one count of disorderly conduct, a violation.

At that point, the White Plains man took officers up on their previous offer and requested medical attention. An ambulance brought him to the White Plains Hospital.
