A tanker truck, which was reportedly carrying sewage, went off I-95 near the Saugatuck Bridge between exits 17 and 18, according to Greenwich Time and the Connecticut Department of Transportation.

At least one other vehicle was involved in the 7 p.m. accident in which the tanker truck rolled over and burst into flames, state police spokesman Trooper Kelly Grant said.

Lengthy traffic tie-ups were reported in both directions. As of 10 p.m., I-95 south remained closed, and traffic was being rerouted at Exit 18, Grant and DOT said. The northbound side had reopened after a closure, DOT said.

No other information was available, and it was not clear who had died in the crash.
