WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A Mount Vernon Man was charged with nine felonies Wednesday for allegedly striking a man with a large garbage can several times and stealing his cell phone at the White Plains Metro-North station in April.
Robert France, 50, faces up to 25 years in state prison for two counts of first-degree robbery, two counts of first-degree assault, one count of second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault, one count of third-degree robbery and one count of third-degree criminal mischief.
Just before 3 a.m. on April 12, France battered a man at the White Plains Metro-North station with a garbage can, according to a press release from the Westchester County's District Attorney's Office. France allegedly made off with the victims cell phone and left him with a broken leg.
The victim was brought to the Westchester Medical Center where doctors discovered he needed three screws inserted into his lower leg and stitches in his left hand.
France was arrested by MTA Police and brought to the County Jail. His next court appearance will be August 2.
