A GoFundMe page to help the family of Matias Lenis-Gomez has raised more than $20,000 from 304 donors as of Tuesday afternoon. The goal was to initially raise $10,000.

Matias was found in a pond on Whippoorwill Road after he was reported missing on April 16. He was transported to Northern Westchester Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The GoFundMe page was set up by Vicky Nikprelaj, the property manager at Pinecrest Manor, where the family lives.

"We wanted to be able to help the family with funeral and burial costs," Nikprelaj said. "The support from the community has been beyond words. I am so happy that the family will be taken care of."

Nikprelaj said they are an amazing family and Matias had a wonderful father and mother. Matias also had an older sibling.

"I am so proud to have them as my tenants," Nikprelaj said. "We want to comfort them during this difficult time."

When she heard what happened to Matias, Nikprelaj said she was upset and saddened.

"I couldn't believe it," Nikprelaj said. "We decided to pull together and do what we can to comfort the family. It's just a horrible situation. I am grateful their expenses will be covered."
