More Than 100 Lose Power In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Con Edison is reporting on its website 143 White Plains residents had lost their power as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A tornado watch was in effect until 11 p.m. for the entire southern region of New York state, including Westchester, according to the National Weather Service. It has also issued a wind advisory for Westchester and New York City until 6 a.m. Wednesday morning. Winds as high as 45 miles per hour are possible.

Con Edison has issued a statement saying crews are preparing to respond to any outages that occur due to the severe rain and windstorms. The company is reminding customers to take safety precautions and to avoid any downed power lines.

Customers can report downed power lines, outages and check service restoration status online by computer, cell phone, or smart phone at www.conEd.com. They can also call 800-75CONED (800-752-6633). When reporting an outage, customers should have  their Con Edison account number available, if possible, and report whether neighbors have also lost power.
