More Con Ed Crews Dispatched To White Plains Friday

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – More Con Edison crews have been assigned to White Plains on Friday to assess the approximately 70 streets that are still blocked due to downed power lines, the city announced.

The city cannot clear those roads until Con Edison responds to each location and turns the power off. The city Department of Public Works can then clear any debris, and Con Edison then restores power. Con Edison will prioritize emergency services, schools, hospitals, nursing homes and other public services. It also prioritizes repairs that will restore the most customers as quickly as possible.

There are still 8,820 customers without power in White Plains as of 2 p.m., Friday, according to the Con Edison outage map.

As Con Edison crews make there way around White Plains, residents may see outage numbers increase as service will sometimes be shut down temporarily to make a repair.
