Bobbie J. Kugler, 37, was released from Albion State Correctional Institution on Monday, according to the state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision Spokesman Patrick Bailey.
Bailey said Kugler, who pleaded guilty to manslaughter, assault, and arson. in 2012, will live in Dutchess County.
Kugler told the court she was drunk and took sleeping and anxiety medication before the fire started around 1:30 a.m., on Feb. 18, 2012.
At the time, the home was filled with seven sleeping children, and James Austin, a friend of Kugler's.
She told the court that she lit a photograph on fire at the stove, used it to light incense in her room and set it down before going to sleep,
The dresser caught fire and the blaze spread quickly throughout her home killing Gage Reavy, 14, Greg Kugler, 13, Kandee Kugler, 12, and Kaiden Kugler, 6.
Kugler told the court she only remembers being rushed out of the home by Austin.
The district attorney's office said there had never been an allegation that Kugler intentionally killed her children, but instead, admitted to an intentional act that started the fire.
Following an investigation into the fire, Kugler was arrested in Poughkeepsie in 2012, state records show.
She began her sentence in February 2013 and served just over five years. She will be under post-release supervision until 2021, according to the DOCCS.
