Metro-North Tightens Security After Boston Marathon Blasts

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Metropolitan Transit Authority police department is increasing patrols on Metro North trains today after two explosions at the Boston Marathon.

"All security personnel will remind all employees to be vigilant," a statement from the MTA said. "The increased coverage will continue until we fully understand the cause of the explosions in Boston.  NYPD is also on alert and indicated they will give additional attention to the subway system."

Gov. Andrew Cuomo increased security at state agencies Monday as well.

"I have directed state agencies, including the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, State Police, the MTA and the Port Authority, to be on a heightened state of alert as we learn more about this incident," Cuomo said in a statement.
