At about 10:08 p.m. Sunday, state police responded to the southbound side of the span after a passer-by observed a vehicle stopped on the bridge and a man standing near the railing.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Kenan Ozdemir of Valley Cottage had jumped off of the bridge into the Hudson River prior to police arriving on scene.

The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office and the Westchester County Police Department dispatched marine units to search the river for the victim.

Approximately one hour later, the victim’s body was recovered by the Westchester County Police Department. Ozdemir was transported to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased by the Westchester Medical Examiner’s Office.
