WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Dennis Krolian was all smiles as he recited his oath of office Tuesday night, becoming the newest member of the White Plains Common Council.
"I'm excited to get started," Krolian said after the election. Nobody will be shortchanged by my effort.
He was sworn in Tuesday night in the company of friends and family at the beginning of the Jan. 3 common council meeting.
White Plains Mayor Thomas Roach said he was happy to welcome Krolian as the newest member of the council. Krolian, a frequent attendee of most council, committee and board meetings at City Hall, said he would treat the position as his highest priority.
"Ill put this common council position ahead of my job and Im sure ahead of many family sacrifices," he said in November. "Ill put it ahead of many other obligations that come up in life because its more important."
Krolian has said some of his earliest initiatives after taking office will be related to the promotion of plans for a Veterans Park near the entrance to White Plains on Tarrytown Road and strengthen the code of ethics, among many others.
He joined the council Tuesday night in the company of current council members Benjamin Boykin, Milagros Lecuona and John Martin, who were also sworn in after being reelected in November.
