Johnson Triple Jumps to Second at State Meet

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- White Plains High School's Thomas Johnson put out a leap of 47-feet, 1-inch Friday to place second in the triple jump event at the New York State Track and Field Meet at Cicero North High School in upstate Syracuse.

Thomas, who also is the Section 1 Class AA (Westchester, Rockland, Putnam counties) boys' long jump and triple jump champion, was followed in fifth place by Byram Hills High school's Chris Ramsey.

Sleepy Hollow High School girls' long jumper Gillian Berger placed third in Division 1 among public school athletes, New Rochelle shot putter Briyah Brown made a toss of 42-3 3/4 to place second in the Division 1 girls shot put, and Madeline Zimmerman of Briarcliff was fourth in the public schools standings and fifth overall in Division 2 for the triple jump at 37-6¼.
