WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Joan E. Stenzel, 81, of Greer, S.C. and formerly of White Plains, died Aug. 30 after a brief illness.
Stenzel was born June 1, 1932 in White Plains and was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elsie Murphy.
In her spare time she took great pride in knitting prayer shawls for the seriously ill and baby blankets for newborns at John Knox Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl; son Ron (Jill); daughters Diane (Paul) May; Amy (Kenny) Bridwell; Michelle Brown and six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John Stenzel.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, from 10-11 a.m. at John Knox Presbyterian. The Memorial Service will follow at 11:00.
