WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Tattoo enthusiasts from all over the country will be flocking to White Plains this weekend for the first ever Westchester Tattoo Convention.
The convention, sponsored by Addicted To Ink of White Plains, is being held in the Westchester County Center from Friday to Sunday this weekend.
One hundred and fourteen artists from as close as White Plains to as far as Arizona will fill three floors of the center to present their work, connect with other artists, and tattoo lucky convention goers.
Among the lineup are celebrity artists, such as Steven Tefft, winner of SPIKE TV's Ink Master, and artists from shows such as Ink Master, Best Ink, Tattoo Rescue and Tattoo Nightmares.
Those who attend will be able to be tattooed by artists, attend seminars about the trade, enjoy vendors and live music by The Misfits, Bayside, American Pinup, Saint Caine, Beyond Dishonor and Andrew W.K.
Several tattoo competitions will be held for various categories such as best color (large and small), best black and white (large and small), and best N.Y. Pride tattoo.
Chris Wilcock, an owner of Addicted to Ink, said, "Conventions are a big thing around the country, but there isn't one in our area unfortunately. We figured this would be a good place for it. It's in White Plains, in our backyard. (...) We set out, not to make a lot of money, but to make an event people could come to and enjoy."
According to Wilcock, one of the biggest advantages of attending a convention is not only to meet celebrity artists face to face, but to be able to talk to and choose from many artists.
"It's like going to the best tattoo shop in the world," he said.
If you're looking to get tattooed, he recommends getting in touch with the artist you are interested in ahead of time, but walk-ins will be available as well.
Children under 12 will be admitted free, and airbrush and temporary tattoos will be available.
Single-day passes are being sold in advance and the day of for $20, and weekend passes are being sold for $50. Tickets for the concerts are being sold separately
The convention runs from Friday 4 p.m. - 12 a.m., Saturday 12 p.m. - 12 a.m. and Sunday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m.
