Hospitalized Man Assaults White Plains Nurse

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A White Plains man in the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation punched a nurse twice in the face, according to police.

Officers say they discovered White Plains Hospital staff and security restraining Jeffrey Weiss, 44, when they walked into the emergency room at approximately 10:37 a.m. Friday.

Staff told police Weiss slugged a nurse summoned to his bed to calm him down, striking him near his right eye.

Police arrested Weiss and charged him with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor. He was then transported to Grasslands Behavioral Center for further evaluation.

- Police say bouncers at Elements had to escort Anas Melouane, 33, of Greenwich, Conn. out of the Mamaroneck Avenue bar when he refused to leave at 4:16 a.m. Sunday.

Officers said they noticed Melouane swinging his fists at security on the sidewalk. He then grabbed the shirts of the bouncers, eventually falling down clutching the fabric, according to police.

Police say they broke up the fight and struggled to handcuff Melouane, who kept his hands tucked close to his body and squirmed.

Once handcuffed, Melouane was arrested and charged with one count of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and one count of disorderly conduct. He acquired two abrasions on the left side of his face while resisting arrest, but police said he declined medical treatment.
