Hair Ripped Off in White Plains Street Scuffle

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- White Plains police say two young women tussling with each other on Post Road managed to rip out chunks of hair before an officer was able to separate the two.

Police say a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old from White Plains were throwing punches at each other near the corner of E. Post Road and Chester Avenue Thursday evening.

When an officer attempted to break up the two, the women grabbed each other’s hair, according to police reports. By the time the two were arrested, bits of weave covered the street.

Both were charged with one count of disorderly conduct.

In other news from the police blotter:

- Police say they arrested a man for hanging around the Winbrook Public Housing complex who was banned from its grounds in 2006, and later discovered what appeared to be crack on him.

Officers say Richard Lewis III, 30, of White Plains, spent the ride to headquarters Thursday fidgeting. In the public safety parking lot, officers had Lewis unclench his right hand, which police say was gripping a white, chunky substance believed to be crack cocaine.

Lewis was charged with one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and one count of third-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor.
