The alleged crime occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. when an unidentified repeat customer of the station stole $879 from behind the register of the station as well as food items, police said. Police said the incident was initially reported by some media sources as a robbery, however, the suspect was alone in the store when the incident occurred while an owner of the station was outside assisting other customers at the gas pumps. The larceny was captured on video tape. The Greenburgh Police Detective Division was able determine the identity of the suspect and the suspect was located and arrested. The suspect was charged with Petit Larceny, a misdemeanor, and was released without bail. He is due back in Greenburgh Town Court Friday.
