WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - One lane on Mamaroneck Avenue between Maple and Rutherford Avenue in White Plains will be blocked for at least two weeks while Con Edison replaces a gas main.
The project began June 6 and is expected to take another two to three weeks to complete. Con Edison contracted Persico and PCT to excavate the road and remove the existing gas main, which had outlived its usefulness, said a foreman at the site Wednesday. The foreman said after a gas main has experienced a certain amount of leaks over the years, Con Edison will replace it.
Wednesday, Persico began installing a section of new pipes that will be hooked up to the new, eight-inch, plastic gas main.
