Five Prostitution-Related Arrests in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Police Department arrested five people on prostitution-related charges late Friday night after doing a little Craigslist and Backpages research to put together a sting.

Although all five arrests occurred in apartment 310 of 4 Lyon Pl., detective Eric Fischer said that police do not necessarily believe that residence regularly has prostitution problems. The department decided to do a "sting" and "keep everybody on their toes" in White Plains because prostitution services are constantly advertised online.

Undercover officers reportedly approached Kimberly "Krystal" Cohen at 4 Lyon Pl. around 9 p.m. Friday. The 22-year-old from Cortland was arrested for one charge of prostitution, a misdemeanor, after allegedly agreeing to participate in sexual acts with the officer for a fee of $250. Cohen's ride, Eugene Crossland, was arrested on one count of promoting prostitution, a misdemeanor, for offering to bring Cohen to the officers for a bit of Cohen's revenue.

According to police, Elliot "Melinda" Rivera, 25, of Jersey City, then agreed to have sex with an undercover cop for an hour in exchange for $350. He was arrested on one count of prostitution.

Officers then arrested Janhee Coleman, 21, of Charlotte, and Jessica "Roxy" Kane, 34, of Fort Lauderdale, for one count of prostitution each after allegedly striking similar deals with the two women.

The following items were also reported by the White Plains Police Department:

• A Yonkers resident was arrested a little before 6 a.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated on Mamaroneck Avenue. Officers learned of a hit and run near 1170 Mamaroneck Ave. and began looking for a red Volkswagen Beetle reportedly involved in the crash.

Police then discovered Victoria Labianco, 25, behind the wheel of a damaged red beetle with four flat tires idling in the middle of Carrigan Ave., just east of Mamaroneck Ave. Police reports indicate Labianco had red, glassy eyes and the smell of alcohol on her breath. She reportedly had to lean on the driver door while getting out of the car. She told officers her passenger, Morel Reinaldo, 28, got in a crash while driving her home so the two switched roles. Reinaldo, who told officers he couldn't remember why he was only wearing underwear, confirmed that he was the one who crashed the Beetle.

Labianco allegedly failed two sobriety tests and then registered a blood alcohol content level of 16 percent on a breathalyzer. She was arrested for one count of driving while intoxicated and one count of driving with a blood alcohol content level above the legal limit of 8 percent. Both charges are misdemeanors. Her car was impounded.

• Shamaal Hall, 27, of Yonkers, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and one count of fourth-degree larceny after allegedly trying to buy a $550 pair of Gucci sneakers at Neiman Marcus with a forged credit card. Hall, who was reportedly wanted for other larceny and forgery-related crimes, was charged with two felonies in connection with his alleged theft from Neiman Marcus Sunday afternoon, as well as outstanding charges from past crimes.

• Stephen Palazzo, 22, of Yorktown Heights, was caught with eight forged $100 bills after getting thrown out of the Porter House bar Sunday morning for trying to pay his bill with fake money. According to police reports, all eight of Palazzo's $100 bills had the same bar code, lacked a water mark, and had ink coloring that differed from regular currency. Palazzo was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.
