Five Bikes Stolen from Ralph Ave. in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Thursday night a White Plains man told police five bikes were stolen from his Ralph Avenue home when his garage door was open two weeks ago. A red Schwinn mountain bike, a blue Schwinn mountain bike, a black Gary Fisher mountain bike, a black Trek Mountain bike, and a Raleigh road bike with a broken frame were all taken around 8 p.m. on July 7. A neighbor saw two men taking two bikes from 95 Ralph Avenue, according to police reports. Officers are still investigating the $1,150 worth of missing bikes.

In other police blotter news:

- An employee at a Westchester Mall parking lot alerted officers when she discovered a customer paid with a counterfeit $20 bill sometime during her Wednesday shift. Detectives are examining the forged bill turned over by the 125 Westchester Avenue parking lot staff.

- A Darien, Conn. man staying at the Ritz-Carlton hotel picked his car up from the valet staff Thursday, drove to his work in Pleasantville, and discovered the laptop he'd left in his car overnight was missing.
