FEMA Disaster Center Remains Open In White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The disaster recovery center run by the Federal Emergency Management Agency remains open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week at the Westchester County Center, the City of White Plains reminded residents Thursday.

FEMA officials are on hand to help individuals and households apply for financial aid for losses and damages caused by the storm. The center is also staffed by:

  • Consolidated Edison, to answer customer questions about outages and restorations; engineers and customer representatives are there to answer specific questions;
  • The Small Business Administration, which will help businesses apply for low-interest loans for storm-related damages;
  • Social services agencies, to provide residents with recovery assistance.

To learn more about the types of assistance available and eligibility, register with FEMA using one of the following methods:

  • Apply online;
  • Apply via smartphone;
  • Call the registration phone number at 800-621-3362; those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY should call 800-462-7585; those who use 711 or Video Relay Service should call 800-621-3362.

FEMA encourages everyone to register before visiting the center. Those who do visit should bring the following documents:

  • Social Security number (including your spouse's if applicable);
  • Private insurance information, if available;
  • Address and ZIPcode of the damaged property;
  • Directions to the damaged property;
  • Daytime telephone number;
  • An address where you can receive mail.
