FEMA officials are on hand to help individuals and households apply for financial aid for losses and damages caused by the storm. The center is also staffed by:
- Consolidated Edison, to answer customer questions about outages and restorations; engineers and customer representatives are there to answer specific questions;
- The Small Business Administration, which will help businesses apply for low-interest loans for storm-related damages;
- Social services agencies, to provide residents with recovery assistance.
To learn more about the types of assistance available and eligibility, register with FEMA using one of the following methods:
- Apply online;
- Apply via smartphone;
- Call the registration phone number at 800-621-3362; those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY should call 800-462-7585; those who use 711 or Video Relay Service should call 800-621-3362.
FEMA encourages everyone to register before visiting the center. Those who do visit should bring the following documents:
- Social Security number (including your spouse's if applicable);
- Private insurance information, if available;
- Address and ZIPcode of the damaged property;
- Directions to the damaged property;
- Daytime telephone number;
- An address where you can receive mail.
