Dates Selected For Pageants In Westchester County

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Dates for the 2013 Miss New York USA Pageant and Miss New York Teen USA Pageant were announced at a Tuesday morning press conference attended by local dignitaries and past winners of the pageants. The competitions will take place at the SUNY Purchase Performing Arts Center Jan. 19–20.

Several representatives from K2 Productions, who will be producing the pageants, were on hand along with Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino and State Assemblyman Robert Castelli at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel to make the announcement.

The previous winners at the event included Miss New York USA 2012 (Johanna Sambucini), Miss New York Teen USA 2012 (Sabrina Mastrangelo), Sarah Hreyo (Miss Westchester 2012), and Jacqueline Groccia (Miss Westchester Teen 2012).

“I am delighted that Westchester County was selected to host the 2013 Miss New York USA Pageant and Miss New York Teen USA Pageant,” said Astorino in a press release from his office. “This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase Westchester County to hundreds of visiting contestants and their families, as they stay in our premier hotels, dine at our top-rated restaurants and visit our many cultural and historic attractions during what is typically a slow period in the industry."

Castelli said he was thrilled to see both pageants return to Westchester for the second consecutive year. According to K2 Productions, the 2011 pageant had 300 contestants and 3,000 attendants, which brought “an estimated $3 million to our local economy.”

Women ages 14–27 can participate in the Miss New York USA and Miss New York Teen USA pageants, which both lead to the Miss USA and Miss Teen USA pageants. More than $300,000 in prizes and scholarship will be awarded.
