Costumed Westchester Residents On 'The Price Is Right'

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Rye Brook resident Tina Maltese won a refrigerator on “The Price Is Right Live Stage Show,” which stopped at the Westchester County Center for the first time ever Wednesday night.

Maltese, who said she has watched the show since the age of four, bid the closest to the $1,300 price tag on a home slot machine during the night’s very first Contestant’s Row to advance to the main stage with host Todd Newton. There, she guessed the prices of three more items close enough to the actual prices to win the refrigerator.

Many audience members came dressed to impress “The Price Is Right” gods with color coordinated outfits, including Debbie Foss, whose daughters bought her tickets as a Mother’s Day present. Sara Russo, Krystal DeLuca and Danielle Foss traced, painted and glittered orange shirts for the seven family members attending the show.

Debbie’s husband Monty’s shirt read, “Will Sell My Wife To Be On Price Is Right,” and he said he meant it, as his daughter Danielle cracked a smile.

“We just want her to have fun,” Monty said of his wife, who has been watching the game show since 1980.

Before the show audience members lined up in the Westchester County Center to take photos, including the dynamic trio of Alison Connelly-Flores, Lori O’Malley and Deborah Accomando. Wednesday night, the long-time friends and Mount Pleasant residents hid their identities in favor of their alter-egos: Superwoman, Batwoman and Robin.

Everyone had a strategy to get selected for one of the many games played on “The Price Is Right.” For some it was to stand out with coordinated outfits, others wore brightly colored visors and still others planned to yell the loudest among the estimated 2,800 audience members present.

Doreen Bakalor and her husband Mitch, of White Plains, took the latter approach. Doreen said attending “The Price Is Right” is a bucket list item she can now check off of her list.
