WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Cinema de Lux movie theaters at City Center are free of any bugs or rodents that prompted a Notice of Violation from the White Plains Building Department last week, city officials said on Tuesday.

City of White Plains officials said Tuesday that an independent city inspection of Cinema de Lux found the 15 movie theaters at City Center are now free of any infestation after last week's complaints about bugs, rodents and other pests.

The city received complaints about possible infestation of insects, rats, vermin or other pests. Its Building Department investigated the complaints and issued a Notice of Violation to the Cinema de Lux on Wednesday.

Karen Pasquale, senior advisor to Mayor Thomas Roach, said an independent pest control service chosen by the City conducted an inspection of the premises earlier Tuesday and submitted a report to the City.

"That report indicates that as of the date of the inspection no evidence of any infestation was found," Pasquale said.

This follow-up independently confirms the inspection results of the pest control service used by National Amusements, the operator of the City Center 15: Cinema de Lux, Pasquale said.

In addition, the City reviewed the theater’s pest management program, which includes bi-weekly inspections.

"Taken together, these reports should alleviate any concerns the public may have about visiting the movie theater," Pasquale said. "The Building Department has now closed this matter. The actions taken by National Amusements demonstrate their continued proactive and cooperative approach."
