WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The three surviving members of the Hastings-on-Hudson family involved in the fatal head-on crash involving a tractor-trailer and an SUV in Killington, Vt., on Tuesday are being treated at University of Vermont Medical Center, according to Vermont State Police.

Peter Malarczyk, 20, was listed in good condition and 22-year-old Monica Malarczyk is still being evaluated. No condition was released on 16-year-old Natalie Malarczyk because she is a minor, according to the Burlington Free Press.

Authorities said the children sustained multiple broken bones and other non-life threatening injuries.

Ryszard Malarczyk, 51, and his 50-year-old wife Anita Malarczyk, and a friend, Jaroslaw Karczewski, were killed in the 2:15 p.m. crash on U.S. Route 4 in which their 2009 Cadillac Escalade was hit head-on by the tractor-trailer, which crossed into the highway, according to Vermont State Police.

Authorities said road conditions at the time of the accident were poor, with snow and ice.

The cause of death for all three victims was blunt force trauma, Vermont Police said.

Ryszard Malarczyk was driving the SUV, Jaroslaw Karczewski was the front-seat passenger and Anita Malarczyk was seated with her children in the middle seats, according to state police.

Karczewski, 51, was visiting the couple from Poland, according to multiple reports.

The truck driver, Lashawn Jones, 41, of Alpharetta, Ga., was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries, according to Vermont State Police.

A lengthy investigation of the crash is continuing, according to state police.
