Burgler Strikes on Beech Street in White Plains

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A White Plains woman noticed something strange when she returned to her Beech Street home around Sunday four hours after she left.

The woman, who left her house at about 2:30 p.m., saw her son's bedroom door was uncharacteristically ajar when she returned. His window screen was pushed in and slashed. She found her previously locked kitchen door open and her dog, who normally greeted her, shaking on the living room couch.

After checking her belongings, the woman said someone had taken an Xbox 360 off of her son's television stand, a bb gun out of his closet, a MacBook from the living room ottoman and 18 pieces of jewelry out of a box in the living room.

She told police the stolen items amounted to $1,500, excluding the jewelry, which was purchased too long ago for her to remember their prices.

Officers spoke to a woman who lives on the second floor. However, she did not notice anything unusual or have any tips for the police.
