WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Westchester County building workers union and building owners came to a last-minute agreement on a new contract on Wednesday, Oct. 1, to avoid a strike, according to News 12 Westchester.

Building doormen, porters, superintendents and handymen will see a 16 percent wage and benefit increase over the next four years as part of the new collective bargaining agreement, News 12 Westchester reported.

Union members are expected to ratify the new deal on Wednesday, Oct. 8, News 12 Westchester said.
