WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - A suspect has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Yonkers on Wednesday, the New York State Police Special Investigations Unit-White Plains Office announced.
State police arrested Michael Johnson, 35, after locating a car in the Bronx matching the description of one seen leaving the scene of a robbery at the Key Bank on Central Park Avenue, police said. State police used information provided from the scene and consulted with the Rockland County Intelligence Center and the Orangetown Police Department.
Police doing surveillance of the area later saw Johnson leaving his Walton Avenue apartment carrying laundry detergent, a black backpack and a laundry bag holding the stolen money, officials said. Police arrested him, then turned him over to the FBI.
Johnson's possible involvement in other area bank robberies is still being investigated by state and county police in Westchester and Rockland.
