The book lists more than 200 Westchester parks with more than 600 miles of trails that encompass terrains such as paved paths, dirt roads and narrow rocky trails. The presentation will utilize photos of trails in environments that are along the shore, in woodlands, and near lakes, streams, vernal pools, and wetlands. Visitors will also learn various facts such as how the parks got their names and who donated certain blocks of land.
The program begins with refreshments at 7 p.m. followed by the presentation at 7:30 p.m. “Walkable Westchester” books will also be available for purchase at the event.
Cranberry Lake Preserve is on Old Orchard Street.
Jane and Walt Daniels are currently working on a trails project that will link several parks and parcels of land along the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown.
