MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Westchester County Executive Robert Astorino and Mount Vernon representatives are scheduled to announce on Wednesday details of a Virtual On-Line Job Fair.
Astorino, Mount Vernon Mayor Ernie Davis, Dr. W. Franklyn Richardson, senior pastor of Grace Baptist Church, and Mount Vernon Councilman Richard Thomas are set to make the announcement during the Job Readiness Workshops with a news conference at noon Wednesday at Grace Baptist Church at 52 South 6th Ave. in Mount Vernon, according to a news release.
"Hundreds of job seekers are expected to attend the Job Readiness Workshops, hosted by Grace Community Development Corporation and Westchester One-Stop Employment Center, geared towards making Westchester’s unemployed and under-employed residents more competitive in the job market and providing encouragement and building confidence in their job search," according to the release.
The Virtual On-Line Job Fair is "designed to connect thousands of Westchester County job seekers to Westchester-based businesses and non-profit organizations that are ready to hire qualified and job ready candidates for hundreds of available positions."
Representatives from Whole Foods, WestMed, Connect One and other companies looking to hire local people will be in attendance at the news conference Wednesday, according to the release.
