'Active Shooter' Alert In White Plains Was A False Alarm

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- A report of an active shooter at the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains on Thursday morning was a false alarm, according to Mayor Thomas Roach.

The report of an active shooter went out to the White Plains Police Department after an accidental activation of the hospital's emergency response system, the Mayor's office said.

The White Plains Police immediately sent a full response team to the scene. Burke staff followed the protocols for response in such situations that had been developed in collaboration with the police department, they added.

There were no injuries of any type and none of Burke patients' were ever in jeopardy, the Mayor's office said.
