White Plains St. Patty's Parade Picks A Grand Marshal

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – The 16th annual White Plains St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 9 will feature Mike Daly as its grand marshal, the city announced.

Daly, former president of he Gedney Neighborhood Association, and his aides will be installed from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 6 at Vintage Bar, 171 Main St. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. with entertainment from Pipes and Drums from Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 21, the O’Rourke School of Irish Dance, songs from Dennis Power and music from Padraig Allen and McLean Avenue Band.

Daly’s grandparents lived in Ireland's counties Waterford, Mayo and Galway before immigrating to the United States in the early 1900s. Born and raised in the Bronx, Daly now lives in White Plains with his wife of 44 years, Helen.

Daly is president of the board of trustees of Preston High School in the Bronx and a trustee of the Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and member of the finance committee of Archbishop Stepinac High School. He has also served as president of the Daniel Gray Fishing Club of White Plains and, over the last 30 years, served as president of the parish council, men’s club and school finance committee at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, according to a city release.

Parade Day will begin with a Mass at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 920 Mamaroneck Ave. The parade will begin on Mamaroneck Avenue and proceed to City Hall on Main Street.

The parade will be led by Daly and his aides, who are all White Plains residents. They are Beth O’Keeffe Cleary, John Cullen, a retired White Plains firefighter, Bill Falvey, Tom Lane, LuAnn O’Rourke-Boyd and Diane Swift Martino.
