WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The White Plains Performing Arts Center will have its 10th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, Nov. 2.
The 7:30 p.m. event will honor Peter Gisondi Sr. and Tony and Anthony Goncalves for their steadfast support of the theater and its mission.
“It is my particular pleasure to single out three stellar individuals who have been with us for the last decade with ongoing support and encouragement," said John Ioris, the center's board chairman, in a written statement. "The Gisondi and Goncalves families are beloved members of our community and original founders of the theater who believe in the value of the arts to the residents of our city and region. We salute them for their leadership roles among the local business community in recognizing the theater’s contribution to the quality of life and economy of our city.”
The program for the evening will include a musical retrospective celebrating the best of the theater’s past 10 years with a sampling from the upcoming season.
It will be headlined by Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham ("Amadeus") and Actors' Equity Association President Nick Wyman (Broadway's "Catch Me If You Can," "Phantom of the Opera," "Les Misérables" and "My Fair Lady" among others, as well as the center's production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying"). Both men will give a unique and intimate behind the scenes look into the entertainment industry.
The evening’s master of ceremonies will be Sirius Radio’s Christine Pedi, who is "on-air" daily with her On Broadway series. Pedi has been seen on Broadway in "Chicago" and is well known for her work in Forbidden Broadway and as a MAC award-winning cabaret artist.
