White Plains Offers Funds From Community Development Grants

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – White Plains is accepting applications for 2013-14 Community Development Block Grant funds from public service programs that benefit low- and moderate-income households.

White Plains has received funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development program for the last 38 years. It expects its funding to remain the same from 2012 at $827,929 or to be reduced by 5 percent to $786,532. HUD has yet to announce funding levels because of complications at the federal level, according to a city statement.

Once the city receives the funding, it will distribute it to programs in White Plains that benefit low- to moderate-income households or aid in the elimination of blight.

Applications will be accepted through 4 p.m. March 29 and must include the application form and a narrative describing the program or project to be funded and how it meets the goals of the City’s 2010-2014 Consolidated Five Year Plan. The document can be found at the White Plains Planning Department, Centro Hispano and the Thomas H. Slater Center.
